When the weather starts getting a little cooler I begin to think….. Fall! Here’s one of my go-to letter based song play activities.
What you’ll need:
Pictures of the letters A, P, P, L, E. (if you want to get a little creative you can print your letters on 5″x 7″ cards with one letter on one side and a picture of an apple with one bite taken out of it on the other side.)
***To the tune of BINGO***
“A-P-P-L-E”
I know a fruit, it is sweet,
And apple is it’s name-o!
A P P L E!
A P P L E!
A P P L E!
and apple is it’s name-o!
Before singing it for the second time flip any of the five letters over (making it hidden). If you have an apple with a bite out of it on the other side the kiddos can say “CRUNCH” or make a crunch sound. Or simply add a body rhythm (i.e. clapping, stomping, patting knees) instead of saying the letter name.
2nd time singing example with one of the letter “P’s” flipped over!
I know a fruit, it is sweet,
And apple is it’s name-o!
A P CRUNCH L E!
A P CRUNCH L E!
A P CRUNCH L E!
and apple is it’s name-o!
